Moving Seniors Is Not the Same as Moving Anyone Else
A standard moving crew rushing through a house can be traumatic for an older adult who has lived in the same home for 30 or 40 years. We move at their pace. We listen. We treat every photo album and piece of china with the respect it deserves.
Owner Marshall Rapp has personally handled hundreds of senior moves over 15+ years. This experience shows in how we speak with families, how we protect heirlooms, and how we help adult children navigate one of the hardest seasons of life.
Our Senior Move Process — Designed for Comfort and Dignity
Unhurried Consultation
We start with a calm conversation — often including adult children by phone or video. We learn medical considerations, timeline preferences, and which items carry the most emotional weight.
Gentle Downsizing Support
We help sort room by room. We never pressure decisions. We photograph keepsakes before packing so families have a record. We coordinate donation pickups for furniture and household goods the senior no longer needs.
Specialized Packing for Daily Life
We do not pack overnight bags or daily essentials boxes. It is the customer’s responsibility to pack a small luggage or personal bag with any items they will need immediately (such as toiletries, a change of clothes, etc.). We focus on packing the rest of the household items with care and clear labeling. Furniture receives extra padding because many seniors cannot easily replace damaged items.
Items You Should Keep With You
We strongly recommend that you or a family member personally pack and transport the following items rather than having them packed by our crew:
- Prescription medications
- Jewelry, cash, and valuables
- Important documents (Social Security cards, passports, medical records, etc.)
- Keys and hearing aids
- Glasses and other daily medical items
- A small bag of overnight essentials
It is the customer’s (or family’s) responsibility to pack a small luggage or personal bag with items needed right away. We focus on carefully packing the rest of the household belongings.
Thoughtful Settling-In
We set up the new bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen first. We hang familiar artwork, make the bed with their own linens, and place sentimental items exactly where they will bring comfort. This is often the most appreciated part of our service.
How Senior Move Pricing Works
Senior moves are quoted after assessing the volume of items, the time and care required for pacing, and any packing, sorting, or donation needs. Families receive a clear written quote. We are happy to discuss phased timelines and options. Call or request a quote for current pricing.
Southwest Florida Senior Move Examples
Naples to Assisted Living Community: A widow moving from a large home in Pelican Bay into a beautiful assisted living residence near downtown. We worked with her daughter over two weeks to gently sort and donate. On move day we set up her new apartment with her favorite chair by the window and all her photos in place before she arrived.
Fort Myers Snowbird Seasonal Transition: A couple who splits time between Michigan and Fort Myers needed help closing their northern home and settling into their winter condo. We coordinated the full process and even helped arrange short-term storage for a few heirloom pieces.
