Local moves in Southwest Florida have many variables that affect the final cost — and a few that matter much more than most people expect. After personally handling thousands of jobs across Naples, Fort Myers, Estero, Bonita Springs, Marco Island, and Golden Gate Estates for over 15 years, I can tell you exactly what drives pricing and where families sometimes get surprised.
This guide explains the real factors that determine what your move will cost. We never give ballpark numbers over the phone — every quote is based on the actual details of your job.
What Actually Moves the Needle on Your Price
Most people think “how many bedrooms” is the whole story. It’s not. Here are the real factors in SWFL:
What Actually Moves the Needle on Your Price
Most people think “how many bedrooms” is the whole story. It’s not. Here are the real factors in SWFL:
1. Vertical Access (One of the Biggest Variables)
- Ground floor or single story is the most straightforward.
- Walk-up stairs add significant time and effort.
- High-rise condos require elevator coordination, extra padding, and often additional crew. We always plan for building rules in advance.
2. Packing Level
- Doing your own packing keeps costs lower.
- Partial packing (kitchen and fragile items) is a popular middle ground.
- Full packing by our team adds the most time and materials but saves the most stress.
3. Specialty Items Items like grand pianos, large safes, pool tables (where applicable), and oversized artwork require extra time, equipment, and care. These are always quoted separately.
4. Haul-Away & Dump Fees Landfill and transfer station fees in Lee and Collier Counties are real costs we pay at the scale. We always disclose the exact amount upfront and add it at our actual cost (no markup). We prioritize donating usable items to local charities whenever possible.
See our full haul-away and junk removal service page for the exact process.
5. Time of Year & Scheduling Peak season (especially winter) brings higher demand. Booking earlier usually gives you more flexibility.
6. Distance Within SWFL Short local moves within Lee or Collier County are standard. Longer runs within our service area (such as Marco Island to northern Lee County) are still local but may require slightly more time.
